Brent Toleman is a behavioral psychologist with more than 30 years of experience in the assessment and management of communication and conflict within management teams, between partners in business, and among family members with shared business and philanthropic interests. In industries from construction and transportation to real estate development and financial services, his work in training and group facilitation has helped business owners and executives achieve the superior professional and organizational outcomes that result from clear understanding, robust agreement-making, and more effective working relationships.

In the non-profit world, Brent works with boards of directors to strengthen their governance and establish strategic direction. He is a veteran presenter on interpersonal and family dynamics at regional and national conferences on family foundations, including the Council on Foundations, the Association of Small Foundations, the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers, the Ohio Grantmakers Forum, and the Conference of Southwest Foundations.

As an educator, Brent has lectured at the Wharton School of Business and regularly provides training in conflict management and supervisory practices to companies throughout Maryland. Formerly on faculty at Georgetown University Medical School, he is a teacher and author in the field of developmental disabilities and behavior therapy. He received his undergraduate degree from the George Washington University and did his graduate work in psychology at St. Mary’s College (Minnesota) and Harvard University.
